Rail Runner makes Christmas Shopping Easy!
…and Santa stops by the Rail Runner for a pre-Christmas Photo

(12-06-06) - )- The New Mexico Rail Runner Express is offering
special Saturday service for Christmas shoppers this holiday season.
December 9th, 16th, and 23rd, shoppers can hop on a Rail Runner train
and explore all of the cool shops downtown, or connect with an ABQRide
bus to one of the malls.
“We want to take the madness
out of the holidays for many,” says Lawrence Rael, Executive
Director of the Mid-Region Council of Governments. “Providing
Rail Runner service for shoppers lets them avoid holiday traffic
and parking headaches, while also allowing them to experience
and the convenience of public transportation.”
In addition to the special holiday trains, people will also get
a chance to have their child’s photo taken with Santa aboard the
Rail Runner on the two Saturdays before Christmas – for free!

Saturday, December 16th and Saturday December 23rd
10am – 12noon and 1pm – 3pm

“Last year, we had a tremendous response to Christmas photos
with Santa on the Rail Runner, so we think we might be onto a
fabulous holiday tradition here!” says Secretary Rhonda Faught,
NM Department of Transportation. “This year, the Rail Runner
lets people double-up on their Christmas fun with easy shopping
and pictures with Santa – all in one, if they like.”
The downtown Cold Stone Creamery will be providing free hot
chocolate for people who come to get their picture taken with
Santa Claus on the train.
