Rail Runner Ends Summer Weekend Service
New Mexico Rail Runner Express ends Summer Service with a Bang as more than 15,000 ride the train!
Albuquerque, NM –
March 12, 2008- Now you can get
the latest information about plans to extend Rail Runner service
to
Santa Fe by
going online. The New Mexico Rail Runner Express has added a new
page to its website specifically aimed at construction updates
and lane closures.
“It’s really important to keep the public
informed as we move forward to Santa Fe”, says Lawrence Rael, Executive Director of the Mid-Region
Council of Governments. “This new page on the website highlights the
latest construction information currently going on in Santa Fe, as well what’s planned for the weeks
ahead.”
The new page
can be accessed by going to
www.nmrailrunner.com. From there, web-users can look
for the “Construction” link under the “News & Updates” button. In
addition to seeing the latest construction schedule, people can also
view a map of the route, find out where the new stations will be
located, and comment on the draft schedule. All of this can be found
on the “Project Plans” link on the left side menu bar.
“This is part of our continued effort to make
sure people have an idea of what’s coming up”, says New Mexico
Department of Transportation Secretary Rhonda Faught. “I’m very
pleased that they’ll be able to simply go online and access the
latest construction information. It will make the commute that much
easier for the people of
Santa Fe.”
Web-users can
also view a four-minute video presentation on the Rail Runner, as
well as an animated view of the train corridor once the project is
complete in December of 2008. The new Rail Runner construction web
page will be updated with the latest information every Friday
afternoon.
In addition to
the new web page, the Rail Runner has expanded its customer service
number so that everyone in the corridor can have access to the
latest train information. The new toll free number is 866-795-7245
(RAIL). The local number that serves the Albuquerque Metro area will
remain in place: 245-7245 (RAIL).
