The Rail Runner Express is making
Connections!
New transit connections will help Rail Runner passengers
get where they’re going
(7-06-06)- In case you’re wondering how to get where you’re
going once you get “off” the state’s new commuter train – wonder
no more! The New Mexico Rail Runner Express is offering
passengers a number of connector options to help get them to
work or wherever they’re going once they arrive at their Rail
Runner destination.
“We’ve now got good solid options for all three Rail Runner
stations that will be in operation when passenger service starts
next week”, says Lawrence Rael, Executive Director for the
Mid-Region Council of Governments.
The U.S. 550 station in Bernalillo will be served by
a new bus
route which will run between the Sandoval County Judicial
complex on Idalia Road and N.M. 528 and the U.S. 550 station.
This new route, designed to serve the Rio Rancho area, is an
extension of the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s
Northern New Mexico Commuter Service. This service is free, and
will run in conjunction with scheduled train times.
New bus service will also be implemented to serve the Los
Ranchos/Journal Center station. This service was developed and
funded cooperatively by the City of Albuquerque, the NMDOT/MRCOG,
the City of Rio Rancho and Sandoval County. This route will
begin in Rio Rancho and stops will be made at Rio Rancho City
Hall, Intel, Cottonwood Mall, the Los Ranchos/Journal Center
station and at various locations on Jefferson between Paseo Del
Norte and Singer Road. This service will be free for the first
three months to coincide with free trips on the Rail Runner. For
schedule and stop information please consult the ABQRIDE website
at www.cabq.gov/transit.
Finally, passengers can use existing ABQRIDE service
to many destinations including Downtown, Uptown, the Airport,
UNM, the Bio Park, Old Town and many more. See
www.cabq.gov/transit
for ABQRIDE system maps and schedules.
In addition: July 14th marks the beginning of the
Downtown Get Around: a brand
new (free!) circulator bus in Downtown Albuquerque.
