Homeland Security recognizes Rail Runner for implementing Strong
Security Program
Rail
Runner to be awarded “Mass Transit System of Distinction”
(Albuquerque,
NM – February 16th,
2011)-
Representatives from the
Office of Homeland Security’s Passenger Rail Security Division will
be in Albuquerque
Thursday, February 17th to present the New Mexico Rail
Runner Express with the 2010
Mass Transit System of Distinction Award.

made it a priority to put the safety and security of our passengers
first”, says Dewey
Cave, Executive
Director of the Mid-Region Council of Governments. “My sincere
congratulations go out to the many hardworking men and women who
oversee and operate our train system here in
Central New Mexico.”
A congratulatory letter dated December 2nd,
2010, from Transportation Security Administration’s administrator
John S. Pistole, commended the staff of the Rail Runner for
implementing a strong security program. The Federal Transportation
Safety Administration (TSA) conducted a Baseline Assessment for
Security Enhancement (BASE) on the transit system and the Rail
Runner scored high marks. Mr. Pistole applauded the Rail Runner for
the commitment and hard work that this level of achievement
requires.
Mr. Doyle Raines, General Manager of Mass Transit
and Passenger Rail Security Division will be in
Albuquerque
for the presentation of the Award.
