Rail Runner celebrates 200,000th
Rider!
And the Winner is…
(10-13-06)- This morning following the arrival of the 8:45 Rail
Runner train at the Downtown Albuquerque Station, commuter Bill
Patterson became the 200,000th passenger to ride the New Mexico
Rail Runner Express!

“I’m an economist, so economical travel really works for me”,
said the 49 year old Forensic Economist from Placitas. “Much of
my work is downtown, so I ride the train into Albuquerque every
chance I can. I really like it!”
“It’s great to see more and more people like Bill discovering
what a huge benefit public transportation can be fore them”,
said Lawrence Rael, Executive Director of the Mid-Region Council
of Governments. “He’s figured out that taking the train is a lot
less stressful than fighting morning rush hour traffic, not to
mention cost-efficient and reliable.”
The Rail Runner, which has become the fastest start-up of a
commuter rail train in the country in the past 20 years,
currently carries commuters between Albuquerque and the Town of
Bernalillo.
For the distinction of 200,000th passenger, Bill was rewarded
with a goody bag of Rail Runner memorabilia, including a scale
model of the Rail Runner, and a certificate to ride the train
free for one month once the free period is up and introductory
fares kick in.
