Open!
The Belen Rail Runner station is located in the heart of Downtown near the site of the old Harvey House - an area that brings passenger rail service full circle to where it all started back in 1901. The station also serves nearby Rio Communities, Jarales, and Tomé.
There are a number of interesting places within walking distance of the Belen station, including the old Harvey House museum.
The Rail Café is adjacent to the station parking lot, and just a hop, skip and a jump from the tracks is Pete’s Café which serves up the local flavor from an old historic house that has seen many a train go by in its day. Another quick jaunt will take you to nearby Anna Becker Park, which from July through October features a local farmer’s market. Or you can opt for a short stroll over to Main Street - the heart of Downtown Belen – where you’ll find more restaurants, an art gallery and even the old bowling alley which has been there for years.

The Belen station offers free parking. The parking lot, with approximately 220 spaces, is located east of the platform, at the end of Desoto Avenue.

| The icon for this station is a reminder of how important the old Harvey House was to Belen back at the turn of the last century. At 15, an Englishman named Fred Harvey came to America and spent most of his life building clean elegant restaurants that served good food to the traveling public throughout the Southwest. Harvey Houses also brought civilization, community, and industry to the Wild West. Belen’s Harvey House, built in 1901, now contains a museum displaying old railroad items, as well as lamps, dishes, and menus from the Harvey House heydays. |
