Each year, ABQ RIDE hosts a reunion for retired employees. This year’s event featured a fun twist – a ride to Santa Fe on the New Mexico Rail Runner Express! On Monday, December 3, a group of former bus drivers, maintenance staff, and other retired employees were treated to a hot breakfast at the Alvarado Transportation Center, and then boarded the train for an adventure-filled day.
“The group really enjoyed their trip,” said Marie Morra, Marketing Specialist for the Rio Metro Regional Transit District. “On the way to Santa Fe, we played games and had a friendly trivia contest.”
Once the group arrived in Santa Fe, they were on their own to explore and enjoy the day as they pleased. Some went to the Cathedral, while others visited the Plaza or dined at a restaurant.
“Some of these folks hadn’t seen each other in years,” said Morra. “It was a great opportunity for them to catch up, and also a great opportunity for us to showcase our transportation services.”
Groups are welcome on the Rail Runner year-round. To learn about group travel and discounted rates for groups visit the Rio Metro Group Travel webpage or call 866-795-RAIL (7245).
