Rio Metro Regional Transit District Status Updates:

Rio Metro Regional Transit District is closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. 

New Mexico Rail Runner Express

New Mexico Rail Runner Express service is suspended from March 16 through April 30, 2020. Learn More

Rio Metro Bus Service Changes

  • Effective Tuesday, March 17, Rio Metro Regional Transit District buses and Dial-a-Ride services in Valencia and Sandoval Counties will be fare-free until further notice. Learn More
  • Suspended or Adjusted Bus Services:
    • Route 206 – Suspended March 16 through April 30, 2020
    • Route 209 – Suspended
    • Route 210 – Operating from 7:30 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.
    • Route 366 – Suspended March 18, 2020 for up to 30 days
    • Valencia County Dial-a-Ride Service – Operating hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Reservation hours from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

To ensure the safety of our riders and drivers, Rio Metro is limiting the number of passengers on vehicles to ensure appropriate social distancing onboard, and has enhanced our vehicle cleaning. Rio Metro bus fares are currently suspended until further notice to reduce face-to-face interactions between passengers and transit staff. Learn More

Customer Service Hours Changes

Rio Metro customer service hours have been adjusted effective March 17, through April 30, 2020.

Adjusted Hours:
Monday-Friday: 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday: Closed

Prevention Information for Coronavirus (COVID-19)*

In an effort to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases such as the coronavirus, it is strongly recommended to follow the tips below:

Clean Your Hands Often

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands

Avoid Close Contact

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

Stay Home if You’re Sick

  • Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care

Cover Coughs and Sneezes

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow
  • Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol

Clean and Disinfect

  • Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks

Symptoms*

Reported illnesses have ranged from mild symptoms to severe illness and death for confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases. The following symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure: 

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of Breath

IMPORTANT INFORMATION IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS
Those who believe they have symptoms are urged to contact the coronavirus emergency hotline at 855-600-3453 before visiting a local health care center or hospital.


CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a face mask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19. Face masks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others.

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) is the lead agency for the statewide coronavirus response. Community members are encouraged to visit the NMDOH website and follow the NMDOH on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter for the latest information.


Families First Coronavirus Response Act

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) requires certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. Visit the U.S. Department of Labor website for additional information.
