The Rio Metro Regional Transit District is evaluating options to improve transit services in Valencia County in response to growth and economic development in the region. Rio Metro's Valencia County Service Improvement Plan includes potential bus routes that serve key roads, businesses and popular destinations. The final improvements will be based on public comment, funding, and an evaluation of the initial routes implemented.
Goals of the Valencia County Service Improvement Plan include:
More transit service within Valencia County and to Albuquerque
More regularly scheduled routes that don't require reservations
Make Rio Metro transit services easier to use and available to a larger number of residents
Provide the maximum amount of transit services possible within budget
The Rio Metro Regional Transit District provides regional and intercity transit service in Bernalillo, Sandoval and Valencia Counties. In addition to the New Mexico Rail Runner Express, Rio Metro operates bus service in all three counties.
